Work Packages

WP1: Control architecture definition

The main objective of this work package is to define and compare control architectures for the overall control of large PV power plants (type 1) and microgrids dominated by PV generation (type 2).

WP2: Controller design methodologies

The aim of this work package is to investigate the dynamic behavior of PV-based power plants. The impact of various active and passive components will be studied separately for different PV power plant configurations. Advanced control methods to reduce the risk for dynamic interactions between system components in the plant will be investigated and suggested.

WP3: Case studies

This work package is designed to apply the developed methodologies and tools to relevant case studies. The validations will include both simulation and experimental tests. Detailed simulation models and a small-scale laboratory setup of the investigated system will developed in order to validate the theoretical analysis carried out in the previous tasks as well as to investigate the system behavior in case of large system disturbances.

WP4: Management Dissemination & Exploitation

The work package covers three important aspects for a great succesful of the project:

  • Exploitation: Searching for the vision of new possibilities with attractive business cases.
  • Dissemination: Generating and dynamizing the debate about the technological and social challenges and to create the momentum at the end of the project.
  • Management: Managing the project and ensuring the required reporting is delivered in a timely manner.
